Description

Carrello Picto CRL-16506 — 3-in-1 crib, co-sleeper and playpen

The Carrello Picto CRL-16506 is a 3-in-1 sleeping place for a baby: a freestanding crib from birth, a bedside co-sleeper that attaches to an adult bed, and a playpen for a child who already sits and stands. One frame covers all three uses, so the same product stays in service well past the first months instead of being replaced. The bassinet area measures 88 × 51 × 31 cm, the base adjusts through six heights, the long side wall drops down, and a 2 cm mattress on a rigid board is supplied. Wheels with brakes let you move it from the bedroom to wherever you spend the day. Available in Aori Beige and Tao Grey; this description applies to both colours.

  • Three modes on one frame: enclosed crib, bedside co-sleeper, and playpen.
  • Base height adjusts through 6 positions to match the height of the parent bed and mattress.
  • Drop-down long side wall for level access from an adjoining bed and easy reach to the baby.
  • Mesh panels along the sides for airflow and a clear view into the sleeping area.
  • Mattress included: 2 cm pad on a rigid base, sized to the 88 × 51 cm sleeping surface.
  • Bed-securing straps supplied for fixing the unit to the adult bed in co-sleeper mode.
  • Wheels with brakes for moving the crib between rooms and locking it in place.
  • Unfolded footprint 100 × 71 cm, height 86 cm; folds flat for storage and transport.

From the first night: enclosed crib mode

Carrello Picto bedside crib set up as a freestanding enclosed crib in beige fabric

In crib mode all four sides stay up, giving the newborn a fully enclosed sleeping space measuring 88 × 51 cm with 31 cm walls. The 2 cm mattress sits on a rigid base, so the surface stays flat rather than sagging in the middle — a flat, firm surface is what newborn sleep guidance asks for. Mesh sections run down the side walls: they keep air moving around the baby and let you see in from across the room without leaning over a high rail. The fabric is hypoallergenic, and the covers come off for washing where the instructions allow.

Beside your bed: co-sleeper mode

Carrello Picto crib with the side wall lowered, positioned next to an adult bed

Lower the long side wall, roll the unit against the adult bed, and set the base height so the mattress lines up with yours. The included straps loop around the bed frame and pull the crib tight against it, so the gap between the two mattresses stays closed. Night feeds and settling then happen without getting up — you reach across rather than climbing out of bed — while the baby still has a separate, defined surface to sleep on rather than sharing yours. When you want the crib standalone again, raise the wall, release the straps and roll it back. The brakes on the wheels hold it still while it is parked, against the bed or on its own.

Six height steps

Adult beds and mattresses vary a lot in height, so the Picto's base can be set at six heights. That spread is what makes the co-sleeper mode work: you pick the step that brings the crib mattress flush with yours, so there is no drop between the two surfaces. The same adjustment helps in freestanding crib mode too — a higher setting saves your back when you are lifting a newborn in and out many times a day, and the lower settings are the ones you switch to once the baby starts pushing up and sitting, when a lower crib floor keeps a more mobile child more securely inside.

Later on: playpen mode

Once the child can sit up and pull to stand, switch the Picto to playpen mode: all sides up, base at a low setting, and the enclosure becomes a safe spot to leave the child to play within sight for a few minutes. This is the part that stretches the product's working life. A plain bedside crib is finished as soon as the baby outgrows lying down in it; the Picto carries on for a while longer as a contained play area in whatever room you are in. With the brakes on it stays put on hard floors. Check the manual for the weight and height limits that apply to playpen use, since they differ from the crib limits.

From what age can the Picto be used?

From birth, in enclosed crib mode and in co-sleeper mode next to the parent bed. As with any newborn crib, put the baby down on the back on the firm flat mattress, with nothing loose around them.

Up to what age does it stay useful?

Longer than a plain bedside crib. After the baby outgrows lying down to sleep in it, playpen mode keeps the unit in use as an enclosed play space for a child who sits and stands. The exact ages depend on the child; follow the weight and height limits in the manual, which differ between crib use and playpen use.

How does the 3-in-1 system work?

The same frame transforms between modes — you are not buying three separate things. All sides up gives a standalone crib; lowering the long side wall and strapping the unit to your bed gives a co-sleeper; raising the wall again and lowering the base gives a playpen. Each change is a setup step, not a flat-fold.

Can it attach to the parent's bed?

Yes. Drop the long side wall, set the base height so the crib mattress matches the level of yours, push the crib against the bed and fasten it with the supplied straps so the two mattresses sit edge to edge with no gap.

How many height positions are there, and is a mattress included?

Six height positions, which cover most adult bed heights for the co-sleeper alignment and also let you raise or lower the crib for everyday use. A 2 cm mattress on a rigid base, sized to the 88 × 51 cm sleeping area, is included — you do not need to buy one separately.

Does it fold for transport, and how compact is it?

Yes — the frame folds flat for storage or for moving it to another home. Set up, it stands 100 × 71 cm on the floor at 86 cm tall. Folding is separate from the transformation between crib, co-sleeper and playpen modes, which is done with the unit standing.
